I'm Alyssa Merkt, 31, and I live in Winterthur, Switzerland, together with two cats, Aiko and Milo.

My path here wasn't exactly straight. I first trained as a chef and served as a head cook in the army. Later I moved into IT, and today I work as a software developer, with the goal of moving into project management. That mix of craft, technology and organisation shapes how I approach things.

In my free time I tinker with my homelab, play games, read, and I'm politically active. I'm involved with the SP, the Swiss Social Democratic Party, and in queer causes, because I believe a fairer, more open Switzerland is possible if we stand up for it.

On this blog I write about my life, about technology and politics, and often about what happens in between.
